Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the HEMA Alliance brand draws inspiration from medieval European culture, the Renaissance, and the Victorian era. The proportions of historical sword models were carefully investigated to ensure accuracy and authenticity. The symbol's design, which features different swords, pays homage to the rich history of European martial arts.
One of the main challenges in creating the HEMA Alliance brand was representing the wide variety of historical weapons cherished by practitioners. To overcome this challenge, Pedro Panetto developed a variable symbol that allows each individual to feel represented. This inclusive approach has been highly successful, as the association experienced a significant increase in membership after the launch of the new brand.
